Number of newspapers and magazines decreased by 13.5%

The number of newspapers and magazines decreased by 13.5% in 2020 compared to 2019 and became 4 thousand 746. Journals constituted 54.4% of these publications.

Annual circulation of newspapers and magazines decreased by 20.9%

The circulation of newspapers and magazines decreased by 20.9% in 2020 compared to 2019. The total annual circulation of newspapers and magazines published in our country in 2020 is 996 million 516 thousand 20, of which 94.8% was composed of newspapers.

91.1% of the newspapers made local publications

Of the newspapers published in Turkey in 2020, 91.1% were local, 6.5% were widespread (national), and 2.4% were regional. On the other hand, 69.1% of the journals were widely published (national), 27.7% were local, 3.3% were regional. 82.4% of the total circulation of the newspapers (national), 16.9% local and 0.7% regional newspapers, 85.6% of the magazines widespread (national), 13.0%. When the publications are analyzed according to their subjects, 28.2% of the published materials are education, 20.0% are adult fiction, 19.2% are academic, 14.3% are adult culture, 13.3% are children and first youth and 5.0% were published on faith.
