Capital transferred to institutional crypto products broke a record

Digital asset investment management company CoinShares announced that the amount transferred to institutional crypto products in the first quarter of 2021 broke a record.

According to CoinShares’ Weekly Fund Flow newsletter dated April 6, $ 4.5 billion was transferred to institutional crypto products in the first quarter of this year. This number was measured at $ 3.9 billion in the last quarter of 2020.

Although the amount of capital transferred to these products has decreased slightly, CoinShares does not think this reflects a wider downtrend as quarterly growth rates are constantly changing.

Last week, 78 percent of the capital transferred to corporate crypto products, that is, 83 million dollars, was transferred to Bitcoin products and 20 million dollars to Ethereum products. The overall volume of Bitcoin investment products accounts for 6.7 percent of the total transaction volume of regulated crypto exchanges.

The value of managed assets of crypto investment products, both active and passive, reached an all-time high of $ 59 billion. $ 46 billion, 78 percent of this value, is under Grayscale’s management. CoinShares manages $ 5 billion worth of assets.
